What did you think of when you heard Korean dessert? What came to your mind? Now, don’t say green tea flavoured cake or smt if you don’t know, I’ll tell you in a minute 🙂
I’ve already mentioned a bit in Seoul guide, but it is my routine to give an afternoon coffee and dessert break in a city I’m exploring. Of course I was looking forward to my Korean dessert time in Seoul as well.
So when I saw Korean Desser Cafe sign, I knew I had to stop here. I wanted to try the most traditional, popular choice. Since it was summer time during my visit, they suggested me desserts made from shaved iced flavoured with various sweet solid/liquid sauces!
Yes, you read that right it certainly makes a different texture and you might wanna avoid trying to eat it with coffee like I tried to do because it is certainly not a match! You can order different flavors such as strawberry and chocolate but I choose more traditional flavor which I’m not sure what its actually made of but it tasted like powdered chickpea.
Portions are huge and you can see usually two or more people sharing one. Normally I never thought I would complain to had to get one full portion dessert as a lonely traveller whom has no one to share but this time I had to leave more than half of it.
So the version I tried wasn’t my thing, but I plan to try a usual flavor like strawberry next time. Also about this cafe, later I saw it on a TV documentary that it has became a very popular chain.
The one I tried in the picture cost 9,500 won with coffee 12,000 won but I could only eat this much!
